DAVE, Leonard “Lenny,” 69, passed away on June 30, 2026. He was a devoted son of the late Bernard L. and the late Roselyn Dave, beloved husband of Amy Cohen-Dave, loving father to Dena Dave and Avi Dave, brother to the late Teresa D. Harrod, uncle to Joanna (James) Amendola, and Allison (Nick) Neumeister, brother-in-law to Robert C. “Chip” Harrod, and stepfather to Chase Bias and Holden Bias. Lenny graduated from Miami University and enjoyed a long career as a speaker and comedy historian. He was a proud third-generation brother of the Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity, and contributed immeasurably to its sustenance and impact, both on campus and nationally. He loved Cincinnati sports – especially the Reds, as well as the worlds of the Marx Brothers and Charlie Chaplin, and using his infinitely green thumb to tend to countless house plants, none more impressive than the mango tree in his backyard, which served as the setting for his and Amy’s wedding. He was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and spent the last decade living in and traveling around Florida, where he spoke to audiences about the boundless history of comedy. He served on the board of the Borscht Belt Museum in Ellenville, New York, as well as the President of AATH (Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor) and most recently dedicated his time to piloting Humor Camp, his passion project. As much as he loved his comedy history, he loved his family even more. Lenny met Amy in 2019, and it was love at first sight. Together, they built a wonderful home in South Florida. Nothing made Lenny happier than talking about Dena and Avi to anyone who would listen. In addition to his wife and kids, he loved all of his extended family and generations of cousins dearly, always making time to see them whenever he was in their city, and making sure to attend every special occasion he could. Amy, Dena, and Avi were the loves of his life, and they will all miss him very much. A funeral service was held on Monday, July 6th at the Weil Kahn Funeral Home.
