Wise Temple Explores Faith and Resilience Through “Tuesdays with Torah | Read with Me: When Bad Things Happen to Good People

Submitted by Isaac M. Wise Temple | K.K. B’nai Yeshurun

Isaac M. Wise Temple invites the community to join Tuesdays with Torah | Read with Me: When Bad Things Happen to Good People, a three-week summer learning series led by Rabbi Jamie Starr.

Held Tuesdays from 12:00–1:00 p.m. at Wise Center and on Zoom, the series will explore Harold Kushner’s timeless book When Bad Things Happen to Good People, a compassionate and thought-provoking reflection on suffering, faith, and resilience.

Together, participants will read key passages from the book and engage in meaningful discussion about uncertainty, loss, and the search for meaning during difficult times. The series invites open conversation and personal reflection while exploring how Jewish wisdom can help guide us through life’s challenges.

Participants are encouraged to purchase and read the books in advance. No prior experience is necessary.

Session Dates: July 14, 21 & 28
