Shirley Ann Weinstein (née Schneider), age 98, passed away on October 31, 2026. She leaves a family who loved her deeply and remembers her life with gratitude.
Born in Miamisburg, Ohio, Shirley attended the University of Cincinnati, where she was active in Mortar Board and sorority life and studied to become a dietitian. She continued her education at Columbia University, earning her master’s degree, and worked for many years as a dietitian at Jewish Hospital.
Later, Shirley found another way to share her interests with others, joining a tour group through which she shared the history and pleasures of her beloved Cincinnati. Her enthusiasm for the city extended to its sports teams. An avid Bengals, Bearcats, and Reds fan, she followed her teams faithfully and took great pleasure in watching them play.
Above all, time with her family was the joy of Shirley’s life. Through the years, as her family grew to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren, those moments together remained her most treasured.
Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Aaron Saul Weinstein; loving mother of Amy (Paul) Lidsky, Dr. Sue (Dr. Michael) Nussbaum, and Barb (Tom) McGrath; cherished grandmother of Dr. Michael (Lauren) Lidsky, Jen (Dr. Joe) Buchholz, Jaclyn (Brett) Sigler, Rachel (Thomas) Appel, Dan (Emily Maletic) McGrath, and Sarah (Jake Mercieca) McGrath; and treasured great-grandmother of Elea, Noah, Benny B. Sammie, Penelope, Stuart, Jamie, Benny M., Leon, and Finn.
She was the daughter of the late Hyman and Sarah (née Hauser) Schneider and sister of the late Dr. Harold (late Mary) Schneider. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her family will miss her dearly and will always be grateful for the years they shared with her.
Graveside services were held on Monday, November 2nd at United Jewish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
