Cincinnati, OH – The Mayerson JCC’s Under One Roof sukkah art exhibit celebrates the festival of Sukkot* with our Greater Cincinnati community. The exhibit will be on display in the outdoor sukkah at the Mayerson JCC and open to the public from September 24 – October 5, featuring nearly fifty panels. Under One Roof brings the community together in a unique way, with this year’s theme being Chai.
Chai is the Hebrew word for life. As we celebrate the JCC’s 18th year milestone, we contemplate how our building, and the people within it, have transformed and flourished.
What brings the JCC to life after 18 years? Our answer – the community that calls this place home.
The JCC’s 20s & 30s group will host a fun event in preparation for Sukkot. Rabbi Drew Kaplan, podcast host of The Jewish Drinking Show will lead a tasting centered around Sukkot and the Jewish history of bourbon. Booze and Schmooze will take place on September 24 from 6 – 8pm.
As a part of the JCC’s new J Serve initiative, a volunteer opportunity will be incorporated into this year’s celebrations. This project will focus on packing welcome kits and cards for clients at Heartfelt Tidbits, a Cincinnati-based nonprofit empowering immigrants and refugees through belonging.
In addition, the JCC will be hosting an Art Reception celebrating the artists involved. Anyone is welcome to attend September 30 from 7 – 8pm to enjoy community, art, and food. The reception will also be in conjunction with the Mayerson JCC’s Annual Meeting taking place at 6pm.

*Sukkot (often translated as the “Festival of Booths” or “Tabernacles”) is a major weeklong Jewish holiday. It serves a dual purpose: celebrating the fall harvest and commemorating the temporary shelters the Israelites lived in during their 40-year journey through the Sinai desert.
