The Mayerson JCC will celebrate Pride Month with a colorful evening of community, creativity and music at its upcoming Rainbow Challah Bake on Thursday, May 28.

The event will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mayerson JCC, and is open to people of all ages, genders, backgrounds and identities.

Participants will have the opportunity to make their own rainbow challah dough and learn braiding techniques during a hands-on workshop led by Chef Rebecca Garfinkle. While the dough rises, guests can enjoy a light kosher dinner, a photo booth and other activities designed to bring the community together in celebration of Pride Month.

This year’s event will also feature a new addition: a karaoke competition hosted by Jewish drag performer Sho Sho Zahav. Organizers say spots for the karaoke portion are limited and advance sign-up is encouraged.

In addition to the festivities, attendees are invited to support Caracole by bringing donations for the organization’s Personal Care Item Pantry. Caracole serves individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS and related health challenges throughout the region.

The Rainbow Challah Bake is organized by the Arts & Ideas department at the Mayerson JCC and is intended to create an inclusive and welcoming space where community members can connect, celebrate and share traditions together.
