Beginning on Friday, April 17, Adath Israel Congregation invites you and your family to a meaningful weekend of celebration, learning and community for the Installation of Rabbi Scott Shafrin as Senior Rabbi of Adath Israel. Throughout the weekend, there will be inspiring teachings, special events and thoughtful conversations with Adath Israel’s Scholar-in-Residence, Rabbi Amy Eilberg.
Eilberg was the first woman ordained as a rabbi in Conservative Judaism by JTS (Jewish Theological Seminary), and she currently serves as a Spiritual Director, Peace and Justice Educator and Teacher of Mussar. Ordained in 1985, Rabbi Eilberg is a widely respected teacher and leader known for her work in interfaith dialogue and peacebuilding.
The Installation Weekend of Rabbi Scott Shafrin will begin on Friday, April 17, at 6:00 p.m. with a Kabbalat Shabbat Hineni dinner and teaching. Participants will welcome Shabbat with music and a teaching by Rabbi Amy Eilberg on “Pursuing Justice with Love.”
Installation Weekend will continue on Shabbat, April 18, starting at 9:00 a.m. Rabbi Shafrin will be formally installed as Senior Rabbi of Adath Israel, and Rabbi Eilberg will share her teaching on “Installing All of Us.”
On Sunday, April 19, at 9:00 a.m., Installation Weekend will conclude with a minyan and a breakfast. Participants are encouraged to stay for a special session led by Rabbi Eilberg on exploring the spiritual meaning of belonging to community.
