For about the next two months, the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati will be hosting a special, highly important event at the Mayerson JCC. The event, “Understand the Headlines,” will offer deep dives into events shaping our history, guest speakers and outside experts and open discussions in a safe and open-minded space.
This ongoing event will be led by Tzach Shmuely, the Federation’s Senior Israeli Community Emissary. “Understand the Headlines” is back by popular demand, and this new series for the winter months will attempt to build on last fall’s conversations while also welcoming new participants.
The first session happened this past Tuesday, January 6, and the next one will be on Tuesday, January 13. Each new session between January and February will fall on Tuesday and last from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
As many of you already know, we’re living through history in real time. “Understand the Headlines” hopes to make sense of all that’s happening today by looking back, offering an Israeli perspective on how Israel’s relationship with the Arab world continues to shape its society and the current headlines.
The State of Israel’s relationship with the Arab world remains one of the biggest factors shaping Israel’s story. At each session of “Understand the Headlines,” participants will get to explore Israel’s revolving relationship with the Arab world and how that continues to shape its society, politics and role on the worldwide stage.
