Dr. Mark Mandell-Brown
Celebrating thirty years in practice is a milestone for most physicians. But for Cincinnati, Ohio’s top voted plastic surgeon, Mark Mandell-Brown MD, it seems like the blink of an eye. “If you have a passion for your work, it does not seem like a job,” commented Dr. Mandell-Brown. He added, “I tell my patients that time marches on, but how did thirty years pass so quickly?”
After attending Northwestern University, (recently rated number nine by US News and World college rankings) the Columbus, Ohio resident, pursued medical school at the University of Cincinnati. He then completed a general surgery internship in Denver before moving to Pittsburgh for Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery. To complete his training he pursued a Plastic Surgery fellowship in Birmingham, Alabama.
He had teaching job offers at Loyola University in Chicago and University of Virginia at Richmond. The highly sought surgeon also had job offers in Melbourne, Florida , Los Angeles, and Los Gatos where he could join Olympian ice skater, Peggy Fleming’s husband in practice. But when an opportunity to return to Cincinnati presented, Dr. Mandell-Brown made that first choice. “I have always loved Cincinnati, the Jewish Community, and the proximity to my parents in Columbus,” he stated.
He joined a group practice with his medical school classmate, Tom Keriakes, MD. However, after the group disbanded after two years, Dr. Mandell-Brown started his own solo practice in 1990. With offices in Montgomery and Batavia, he spent the next ten years planning a free standing cosmetic surgery center.
The Mandell-Brown Plastic Surgery center with state licensure and national accreditation by AAAHC, opened in December 2000. The facility has earned awards by the City of Montgomery. The Center was also featured in national publications like Cosmetic Surgery Times for the challenges in re-designing a home into an office building.
What are Dr. Mandell-Brown’s proudest professional accomplishments in the past thirty years?
• Elected President of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery
• Voted “Best Plastic Surgeon” City Beat Magazine

When asked about future plans, Dr. Mandell-Brown replied, “I hope to practice another ten years!” With good health, a passion for his chosen profession, and his own state-of-the-art surgery center, he hopes to continue the success he has so diligently achieved.
Dr. Gina Maccarone recently joined Mandell Brown Plastic Surgery Center. Dr. Gina Maccarone has always had a passion for both art and science. Her love of science brought her through medical school and surgical training, while her joy in art has led her to pursue cosmetic plastic surgery.
