On Tuesday, December 16, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wise Center will be hosting the last part of its three-part of class “Tuesdays with Torah,” which held its previous entires on December 2 and 9. The sub-heading of this special class/get-together is “The December Dilemma: Being Jewish During “Christmas Season,” and it’s hosted by Rabbi Zachary Goodman of Wise Temple.

This three-part class explores how, for many people, this is the most wonderful time of year, but for Jews, December can sometimes bring about a complex season of exploration into one’s identity and sense of belonging. “December Dilemma” dives into this issue in-depth and head-on on a historical, spiritual and communal level.

Together, as a class, the subject of how American Jews have navigated Christmas culture over the decades will be discussed. Also, Chanukah’s evolving role in the public square will be examined and the matter of how American Jews might respond to this season with authenticity and joy will be explored.
