State of the city — Rosh Hashanah 2025

I remain incensed and fed up with seeing anti-Semitic graffiti on the highway underpass girder on Fort Washington Way downtown. We need to cover this criminal vandalism immediately. To those responsible for the appearance of this roadway, I implore you to take action. Lets get it done.

We have a new website that is still in development, and I am not ready to announce it yet. It still has some bugs that need to be worked out, and I promise you that as soon as it’s ready, I will announce it to you all. It is strictly geared towards 18 – 35 year olds. The entire staff is in that age group and all its writers are in that age group. It is by and for them. If you know of someone that has writing talent, please have them contact us. We would love to have them write for TODAY.

You can reach us through our regular emails. Unlike our other websites, we don’t charge for ads on TODAY. I can’t say this will last forever, but it is true right now. Also, if you buy an ad in the paper, you will get a free ad on TODAY. You have to provide the ad and the dimensions are 672 pixels high by 1856 pixels wide. Send it in and we shall put it up.

We are also starting a new program. If you submit an article to the paper, you will build up a credit on your account that can be used to offset the cost of advertising. The exact numbers will need to be worked out. I will work on these numbers in the coming weeks.

I want to thank our staff of this old grey newspaper. We really have some talented people that work for and contribute to this paper. You don’t know them other than seeing their names on the masthead or as the writer of an article. I see most of them every day, and I must tell you that we are blessed. I want all of you to know that you are appreciated and that we are happy to have you. Keep up the good work and get back to work. We need to get a paper out.

Board — We are taking nominations for a board. If you would like to be on our board, please contact me. Don’t wait too long, as the process is underway. We just need a few seats to fill out the rest of the board.

Words for this new year are Today and Board. We are constantly changing, and evolving, and this is another step in that process. I find it invigorating and challenging to keep reinventing our paper, our websites and our brand. I hope you agree and a complimentary email always lifts the spirits of everyone that works here at this paper.

We have been producing a podcast for several years now, and if you have yet to listen to one, please do so now. You can look up LET THERE BE LIGHT on many podcast platforms and also through our website, which keeps growing in terms of listeners every week. It is the perfect program to listen to while out on break during the day or when you are taking a walk or working out. I promise that you will find it interesting and that it will keep your attention. We discuss what is going on in Jewish Cincinnati and then go over national Jewish news and world Jewish news that affects us all.

I ask you to forgive me if I have offended you. If we need to get together to work through our disagreements, please let me know. I am ready, willing and able to meet with you to discuss this matter or any other matter you have that is a concern.

One sour note that I need to point out. As I am driving here and there, there is a new tendency to cross a double yellow line to get into the left turn lane. It is now a thing and I am afraid that when there are head on collisions because of this or offset crashes it will need to stop. I must point out that it is illegal to cross a double yellow line under any condition.

Thank you all for reading our paper, and reading news on our websites and thank you for listening to our podcasts. We are blessed to have you supporting us. I also want to thank all the organizations and advertisers that support us every day, thank you. I wish all of you and all the Jewish people a year of peace. I am hopeful all the hostages will come home this year and the war in Israel will end. Bless all of you and also this paper on a successful year, and may we all have a wonderful, safe and fulfilling new year.
