Elana Kuperstein and Dr. Oscar Rosen

Elana Kuperstein Rosen’s friend returned from Israel after volunteering to pick oranges and bringing funds for donated toys for the children. Since Elana couldn’t get up on a ladder to pick oranges, she searched for something she could do during this difficult time for Israel and the Jewish people.

She found the solution and enlisted friends to help. On February 17, Elana Kuperstein Rosen and her husband Dr. Oscar Rosen had a party in their home in Montgomery, Ohio for American Friends of Magen David Adom.

Magen David Adom is vital for the health and well-being of all people residing in Israel. It supports blood banks, human milk banks, first aid, and teaches CPR. The organization needs to replace many ambulances that were destroyed by Hamas in the south of Israel on October 7th. They sent toy ambulances, some brochures and their magazine with the issue called “Israel at War” to the Rosens.

More than 20 people came out on an icy cold winter night to support Magen David Adom. A buffet of many Mediterranean dishes included baklava, hummus, tabouli salad, spanakopita, various other salads, and a large desert table. There was also a customize your own vegetarian chili bar with assorted condiments. Cheesecake, pastries, baklava, and cookies decorated with blue Jewish stars were part of the dessert display. Silver and blue tea lights, a large Israeli flag, and a painting of an Israeli ambulance set the mood for the evening.

Attendees were asked to wear blue and white clothing and accessories and jewelry with Jewish themed motifs. Elana and her friends made prizes for a drawing such as necklaces and painted wineglasses with chocolates inside. The guests had a good time and felt that they had contributed to a worthy cause.
