Rockwern Alive!, Rockwern Academy’s largest annual fundraiser, is taking place under the neon glow at the American Sign Museum this February. The event aims to be a landmark of community connection, as it supports the school’s mission of expanding minds, celebrating Judaism, nurturing community and building a better world.

This year’s honorees are Junior and James Coomer, longtime building caretakers, and Rebecca Garfinkle, who nourishes the students each day by providing snacks, meals and special event treats. By honoring these individuals, Rockwern is shining a spotlight on its incredible team, which nurtures, educates and cares for its students every day. Many members of the Rockwern staff have been there for more than a decade, including this year’s honorees.

The evening will also feature delicious kosher light bites and desserts from Koriela Catering’s Chef Ifat Lahyani, as well as a silent auction featuring items and experiences from local businesses and vendors.

Taking place at the American Sign Museum, guests will have the opportunity to explore local and national history, including signs from Jewish businesses. During a recent visit, Rabbi Laura Baum, Anna Sarembock, Robyn Lamont and Ifat Lahyani were delighted to see a sign from Crown Deli in Brooklyn.

“It’s always wonderful to see this event come together, and this year, with the museum venue, I’m particularly excited to honor the past, celebrate the present, and support the future of our community in one evening,” said Rabbi Laura Baum, Head of School.

Baum added, “Rockwern Academy is thriving with growing enrollment in our program for students from 12 months old through eighth grade. Our 249 students engage in meaningful learning each day in their general studies and Judaic studies classes, as we focus not only on the academics but also on helping our students develop into their best selves. We are so excited to celebrate our community in February!”

Rockwern Alive! will welcome adult guests on February 28, running from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
