In the January 2, 2025 issue of the American Israelite Newspaper on page 3, in the article Mayerson JCC’s 60 & Better online event: “Elvis in Hollywood”, the following text was published:

King Creole (1958) portrays Danny Fisher (played by Elvis) who is denied his high school diploma because of a schoolyard fight. Unsure of how he will support himself and his unemployed father, he briefly flirts with a life of crime before being discovered for his singing talent. Danny’s former boss,(played by Walter Matthau), tries to lure him back. Jailhouse Rock (1957) features Elvis as Vince Everett, who is convicted of manslaughter after being drawn into a bar fight.

In prison, Vince finds salvation when his cellmate Hunk (played by Mickey Shaughnessy,) hears him sing and pegs him as a future star. In Harum Scarum (1965) Elvis plays singing movie star Johnny Tyronne. During a promotional trip through the Middle East, Tyronne is kidnapped by a group of would-be assassins. They have mistaken the actor’s valorous screen persona for the real thing and want him to use his martial art skills to kill their king. Paradise, Hawaiian Style (1966) features Elvis playing Rick Richards, a singing pilot. Rick and his friend Danny hope to launch their helicopter-charter business with the help of their girlfriends.
