Please join Northern Hills Synagogue in welcoming Ariel Elias, one of America’s most talented young comedians, for what promises to be a side-splitting special performance on Sunday, May 21, 2023, beginning at 7:00 pm.
Growing up in Kentucky, Ariel made everyone laugh at her bat mitzvah, and the rest is history. Her comedy is a fun mesh of unique personal stories mixed with witty and wry observations.
Ariel’s comedy went viral after she deftly handled a heckler who threw the usual insults along with a beer can at her. Her cool, calm and hilarious response catapulted her into the national consciousness, and led to her late night debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live. That same week she was also interviewed on the daytime talk show, Sherri.
Described as “a sly young comic from Kentucky” by the New York Times, Ariel has also been featured in Rolling Stone, the Washington Post, and on Good Morning America. As a traveling stand-up comedian, she has performed on the set of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and was named a “New Face” at the 2021 Just For Laughs Comedy Festival.
Opening the show will be local comedian Kelly Collette. Kelly was named Cincinnati Citybeat’s Best Comedian in 2020. Kelly tours nationally, and in 2022 was an Artist in Residence at Acadia National Park, the first stand-up comedian to do so in National Park history. Kelly will be headlining the Limestone Comedy Festival in Bloomington, Indiana June 1-3.
Matt Lee, chair of the event, commented, “Ariel’s observational humor combined with personal stories will have wide appeal. We look forward to seeing people of all ages from throughout our community come together to enjoy an evening of humor with Ariel and Kelly.”
The doors will open at 6:30 and the performance will begin at 7:00 pm. A dessert reception and Meet & Greet with our stars will follow. Dietary laws will be observed.
There is a cost for admission. For more information and to RSVP, please call the synagogue or visit Northern Hills website.
