The Mayerson JCC 20s and 30s group is hosting a self-care cooking class on Sunday, November 3, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Participants will have a chance to learn recipes from Jack Hazan’s recent book “Mind Over Batter: 75 Recipes for Baking as Therapy.” Hazan is a licensed psychotherapist and master baker who aims to show bakers that therapeutic techniques are available to them in their own kitchens. The 75 recipes featured in the book each relate to psychological issues and illuminate the problem solving techniques users can access to address them. The recipes are inspired by the Syrian and Middle Eastern baked goods that Hazan grew up with. Hazan will teach the JCC baking class virtually so participants have front row seats to the master baker’s insights about his own work. All attendees will also receive a coy of Hazan’s cookbook to take home. Tickets are 15 dollars for JCC members and 18 dollars for the general public. More registration information can be found on the Mayerson JCC website.
