The Mayerson JCC

On Sunday, September 29 the Mayerson JCC will be hosting its annual fall market. The event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will feature local produce, food trucks, and handcrafted art.
The event is intentionally scheduled just before the new year and will feature vendors who sell apples, honey, pomegranates, and other supplies used during the celebration of Rosh Hashanah. This is the best way to stock up on materials for your Rosh Hashanah celebration and to do it with local vendors! “The focus of the Fall Market is gathering as a community and enjoying each other’s company, as well as the participating vendors,” says Ellen Daniel, Marketing Director for the JCC. This year, the Fall Market will not only feature everything you need for a hearty Rosh Hashanah celebration, but the event will also provide different programming and classes throughout the day. These opportunities for participation are unique to the market this year. In addition to shopping at the market, attendees have the opportunity for yoga, meditation, story time, and more.
Here is the schedule of events for the Fall Market at the Mayerson JCC:
10:00 – 10:30 a.m. — Yoga Workshop. At this workshop, attendees can work on balance, mindfulness, mind and body awareness, and strength with a skilled JCC instructor. Yoga is free with registration at the event.
10:30 – 11:00 a.m. — Guided Meditation. Nothing calms the mind and prepares us for the New Year like meditation. Struggling to drown out the noise or turn off your brain? A qualified JCC instructor will be there to guide you through the practice and help your mind obtain the ultimate sense of peace and relaxation. The meditation is free at the event and requires no registration.
10:30 – 11:30 am and 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. — Chalk the Walk ($5)
One ticket for Chalk the Walk will get you a sidewalk square on the J sidewalk, chalk materials, and supplies for you and your group. This is your chance to help beautify the surroundings at the JCC and ring in the new year with some sidewalk chalk art. Registration for Chalk the Walk is required. When you register, you can select your time slot.
11:00 – 11:30 a.m. — Story Time with PJ Library
Take a chance to relax from your busy day of fall shopping and chalk art to hear a story from the JCC PJ Library collection. Story time is free and requires no registration.
12:30 – 1:00 p.m. — Zumba Workshop. Ready to shake up your body after a day of browsing and Rosh Hashanah planning? Get moving with this Zumba class. Zumba is a hip-hop inspired cardio workout. Don’t know the steps? Don’t worry! This class is led by a JCC instructor.
The Mayerson JCC Fall Market is a great way to support local vendors, stock up on supplies for Rosh Hashanah, and sample some of the classes that the Mayerson JCC offers to its members year round. More information about the event and registration can be found on the Mayerson JCC website.
