Dear Editor,
The New York Times (NYT), as did many major news outlets (Reuters, Associated Press, BBC etc) stated that Israel was responsible only to have to retract that incorrect assumption later, saying that (we relied too much on the Hamas version’). Hamas is a master of misinformation. The actual bomb was a misfired Islamic Jihad missile.
The New York Times has had for many years an Israeli bias; the failure to investigate and validate the false Hamas claims is journalistic malpractice, and this “rush to judgment“ served irreparably to injure an innocent party (Israel) in the minds of millions, flaming undeserved anger and hatred against Israel. This practice, by no means a new one, by the New York Times, violates the New York Times own motto to “print only the news that’s fit to print“ and must be recognized as wrong and dangerous by both the New York Times and it’s readers.
