Jewish Family Service of Cincinnati opens new adult day services

Jewish Family Service of Cincinnati (JFS) has opened JFS Adult Day Services in Blue Ash, Ohio. The facility is co-located inside the JFS Headquarters. It is a safe, clean, comfortable environment where skilled staff can help older adults — with moderate or developing cognitive issues — engage in activities designed to enhance their quality of life. Since every client is unique, the staff is careful to respect and respond to individual needs. Research shows that when older adults are treated with dignity and compassion, it can improve their physical, social, emotional, intellectual, or spiritual wellbeing. Similar improvements can result when people connect with nature, which will be an additional focus of the center. Support for this program was provided by Jewish Home of Cincinnati.

JFS Adult Day Services incorporates simple physical activities, such as chair exercises, to engage clients’ bodies and encourage movement. The center is a valuable place to develop social connections, leading to positive health impacts. Clients are provided an opportunity to express their emotions through art, music, group activities, and one-to-one engagement. Intellectual stimulation is a daily emphasis for each participant as they are engaged in ways suited to their specific stage of memory impairment or dementia. Spiritual enrichment is another important area of exploration that is available to all clients. JFS K’vod Connect rabbis can provide guidance, relevant programming, and a meaningful connection to Jewish holidays.

Caregivers for older adults find it comforting to take their loved ones to a pleasant, professional environment that is stimulating and fun. JFS Adult Day Services can also provide caregivers with some time to spend as they please.

There are still openings at JFS Adult Day Services, so people interested in learning more are encouraged to call.
