The Mayerson JCC invites the Jewish community of Cincinnati to the matinee showing of the Cincinnati Opera’s new production of “Fiddler on the Roof.” The matinee is on Sunday, July 27 from 3:00-6:30 p.m. Those who register on the JCC website may have access to a discount code that allows attendees to save on the price of tickets.
“Fiddler on the Roof” is based on stories written by Sholem Aleichem, a Yiddish writer who lived in Russia before moving to the United States. Between 1894 and 1914, Aleichem wrote stories about Tevye, a dairy farmer, which would eventually become the foundation for the play “Fiddler on the Roof.” The play was first performed on Broadway in 1964. Zero Mostel played Tevye in the original production. The production has won a total of 9 Tony awards.
The production of Cincinnati Opera’s “Fiddler on the Roof” will take place July 23, 25, and 26th at 7:30 p.m. The matinee, as mentioned above, shows on July 27 at 3:00 p.m.
The digital program is available on the Cincinnati Opera website for those looking for more information about casting.
