The Jewish Committee on Scouting, Dan Beard Council, Allan Pinhas, Chairperson
The Jewish Committee on Scouting, Dan Beard Council, held their annual Scout Shabbat, a community wide Friday night Shabbat service for Jewish Scouts and their families, non-Jewish Scouts and their families interested in learning more about Judaism and the Jewish community of Greater Cincinnati, on Friday, February 7th at the Mayerson JCC. Rabbi Eric Slaton, a member of the JCOS, led the service.
This year, the JCOS partnered with other Scouting and Jewish organizations to extend the reach of the event. Approximately 100 attendees including Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venture Scouts, Daisy Scouts, Girl Scouts, leaders and families, worshiped, learned and ate together.
Participants commented: “The energy in the room was just exhilarating!” “All seemed to enjoy themselves!” “I appreciated the sense of community among all of the participants, including the youth.” “This was a great event!”
Scout Shabbat was sponsored by the Jewish Committee on Scouting, Dan Beard Council in partnership with the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and the Mayerson JCC.
