On Thursday, February 5, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the “Jewish and Israeli Film Festival” will be screening the third film of its festival’s line-up, “Frontier,” at the Mayerson JCC. The film will be presented in partnership with the Foundation for Cincinnati Jewish Seniors and The Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center.
“Frontier” is a 99 minute-long WWII drama inspired by true events and directed by Judith Kolell. Multiple languages, including Catalan, Spanish, French and German are spoken in the film.
This harrowing WWII drama inspired by real events follows a Spanish customs officer stationed in a remote Pyrenean village in 1943 who chooses to defy France’s regime to help Jewish refugees flee Nazi-occupied France across a treacherous mountain pass. The danger of the custom officer’s covert operation to help the refugees escalates as he and his wife are forced to confront their past and brutal legacy of the Spanish Civil War.
“Frontier” is a powerful story about sacrifice, resistance and redemption set in the midst of the deadliest conflict in human history.
The film will also be screened virtually, and there will be a 48-hour viewing window for it between February 5 and 7. There is a fee for admission to both screenings, in-person and virtual, and tickets are sold separately. Please be advised: “Frontier” carries a content warning of antisemitism, graphic content and violence.
