Eight IDF soldiers hurt in car ramming at central Israel bus stop

(JNS) — The Israel Defense Forces confirmed on Thursday afternoon that eight soldiers were wounded in a car-ramming attack earlier in the day at the Beit Lid/Hasharon Junction, east of Netanya.

According to the military, two of the soldiers were moderately wounded and six other soldiers were lightly injured. They were evacuated to a hospital and their families were notified.

Reports in the morning indicated that a vehicle struck pedestrians waiting at a bus stop on Route 57 at the entrance to the city of Kfar Yona, located between Netanya and Tulkarem in Samaria.

Emergency responders treated the injured at the scene and evacuated two young adults — a man and a woman, both around 20 years old — to Laniado Sanz Medical Center in Netanya in moderate condition with chest and limb injuries. Three others were in good-to-moderate condition with head and limb injuries, and three people were in mild condition. In addition to Laniado, victims were transported to Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba and Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera.

IDF arrests suspect behind Bat Yam, Holon bus bombings

(JNS) — Israeli forces on Wednesday apprehended a suspect in connection with the Feb. 20 bus bombings in Bat Yam and Holon, the Israel Defense Forces announced.

The suspect, Abd al-Karim Sanubar, was captured during an operation in Nablus (Shechem) in Samaria, following a months-long manhunt.

A blast on Tuesday, believed to have been triggered when Sanubar came into contact with additional explosives in his possession, led security forces to his location. He was injured in the explosion and attempted to flee the apartment before being apprehended.

As part of the operation, security forces searched the area around the building where the blast occurred and uncovered several ready-to-use explosive devices, which were safely dismantled.

All of the bombings in February occurred in parked, empty buses across the two cities located south of Tel Aviv. There were no injuries as the explosions were apparently mistimed.

Israel evaluating Hamas response to latest ceasefire proposal

(JNS) — The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office announced on Thursday that mediators had delivered Hamas’s response to a new proposal to the Israeli negotiation team.

Jerusalem confirmed that its delegation in Doha, Qatar had received the reply, which it said was being carefully assessed.

Later on Thursday, the PMO announced that, “in light of the response delivered by Hamas this morning,” the Jewish state had decided to return its negotiation team to Jerusalem for further consultations.

“We appreciate the efforts of the mediators Qatar and Egypt, as well as the efforts of [U.S. Mideast envoy Steve] Witkoff, to achieve a breakthrough in the talks,” the PMO statement added.

Since early July, Israel and the terrorist group have been engaged in indirect negotiations in the Qatari capital, aimed at securing a ceasefire and the release of hostages held in Gaza.

Israeli officials reportedly described the latest response as an improvement over previous ones.

Activist charged with seeking to assassinate Netanyahu with RPG

(JNS) — A woman in her 70s was indicted on Thursday for an alleged attempt to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reportedly planning to carry out the attack with an anti-tank weapon.

The State Attorney’s Office filed charges against her with the Tel Aviv District Court for attempting to conspire to commit an act of terror and aggravated murder.

“The defendant, who is involved in political protest activities against the Israeli government, was recently diagnosed with a serious illness and may have only a short time to live,” the indictment read, as cited by Arutz Sheva.

“As a result, she made a decision to assassinate the prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, thereby ‘sacrificing’ her life for the struggle against the government and in doing so, ‘saving’ the State of Israel,” the indictment continued.

The defendant attempted to conspire with fellow activists, meeting one of them at her home in late July, the indictment read.

Trump tower glimmers on Gaza coast in Israeli minister’s AI video promoting ‘voluntary emigration’ of Palestinians

(JTA) — An Israeli minister posted an AI-generated video of a redeveloped Gaza on social media Tuesday calling for the “voluntary emigration” of the region’s Palestinian population.

The post by Gila Gamliel, the science and technology minister from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party, bore the title “Gamliel-Trump Plan,” echoing another AI generated vision for Gaza as a beachside resort by President Donald Trump in February.

The post opens with video from Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel before moving into a visual of glimmering skyscrapers rising from the rubble of Gaza’s streets, one of which featured a sign reading “Trump.” Later in the video, AI versions of Netanyahu and Trump can be seen walking along the imaginary city’s coastline with their spouses.

“This is what Gaza will look like in the future,” Gamliel wrote in a caption accompanying the video. “Voluntary emigration of Gazans – only with Trump and Netanyahu. It’s us or them.”
