Howard “Hank” Marowitz

Howard “Hank” Marowitz, 95, passed away peacefully Monday, August 11, 2025. He was born January 19, 1930 in Warren, Ohio to the late Morris and Frieda (nee Honig) Marowitz. Hank is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane (nee Horwitz) Marowitz and his sister Nancy (Alex) Seidman. He is survived by his children, Jim (Barbara) Marowitz, Amy Marowitz (former husband Ron Kramer) and Jenny Lazar (Susanne Hassenstein); his grandchilden Gabriel Marowitz (Tal Ozery), David Marowitz, Forrest Marowitz (Alex Freeman), Rebecca Marowitz, Addie Kramer (Zach Crowle) and Eli Kramer and great grandchildren Miki and Elie Marowitz.

Hank attended Ohio State University where he studied advertising, marketing and business, was the editor of the OSU yearbook and most importantly met Diane. He was an extremely devoted Ohio State football fan. He even attended a game at “The Shoe” in a wheelchair in his 90s.

After college Hank joined the Navy and was accepted into the officer training program. He served during the Korean War on the battleship USS Iowa. He was very proud of his service and wore his USS Iowa cap until the end of his life.

Hank and Diane were married in 1953. After his Navy service they settled in Cincinnati where they made lifelong friends and were active in the Jewish community. He worked in advertising for many years, including running his own advertising agency before working in printing marketing for Ohio Valley Lithocolor/Nielsen Printing Company until his retirement in his late 70s. He was a creative and talented copywriter.

Hank was gregarious, a great conversationalist and always had a positive outlook on life. After Diane’s death in 2014 Hank moved to Seattle to be with family. He showed amazing resilience, quickly becoming a fixture in the community in which he lived and making many great friends.

Perhaps his most shining moments were as a grandfather. “Poppy” was a very important person in the lives of his grandchildren. He kept track of all their accomplishments, activities and challenges. He attended many sports events, plays, musical performances and graduations around the country and never failed to say and show how much he loved them.

A graveside service took place Friday, August 15 at 11 a.m. at United Jewish Cemetery Montgomery (7885 Ivygate Ln. Cincinnati, OH. 45242). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio State University Foundation.
