In breaking news, four former board members of Cincinnati’s Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC) are attempting to start a new Jewish seminary, the College for Contemporary Judaism, to compete against the historic school, two years after HUC leaders voted to stop ordaining rabbis in Cincinnati.

This past Tuesday, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost took legal action to stop the potential sale of rare books from the collection at HUC’s Klau Library as well. He asked for a temporary restraining order to prevent any potential sale from the college’s library of more than 3500 manuscripts, and tens of thousands of rare books and ancient texts. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4.
