Friday Night Shabbat Announces Final Dinners of 2022-2023 Season

Submitted by Friday Night Shabbat

This June will mark nine months since the Friday Night Shabbat initiative collaborated with Wise Temple to host the first Friday night Shabbat dinner for young Jewish families in Greater Cincinnati. Twenty-three dinners have been held so far with three more scheduled in June.

The response from the community has been amazing. Hundreds of Cincinnati Jewish parents with children 12 years old and younger have come together to enjoy Shabbat dinners on Friday in a cross-section of our Cincinnati Jewish institutions, including Adath Israel Congregation, Rockwern Academy, Valley Temple, the ish garage, Rockdale Temple, Northern Hills Synagogue, The JCC, Wise Temple and Cafe Alma. These Shabbat dinners are free of charge and held in a relaxed, fun and individualized environment reflecting the event sponsors. At all venues, participants enjoyed sharing Friday nights with new and old friends. Children had the opportunity to enjoy playgrounds indoors and out, weather permitting. Parents socialized with each other, at times sipping wine, enjoying delicious appetizers and just relaxing after the busy week. A sweet beginning to Shabbat and the weekend.

Friday Night Shabbat would like to thank all its partners for supporting this new initiative. Friday Night Shabbat family dinners will continue through the month of June. On Friday, June 2, Shabbat dinner will be hosted by the Mayerson Jewish Community Center outdoors under shelter with a variety of children’s activities. On Friday, June 9, young families are invited back to Rockdale Temple for a family centered evening. As usual, please visit our website for further information. Online RSVP is encouraged, but not necessary. Walk-ins are always welcome. FNS dinners are scheduled to resume in August for the 2023-2024 year.
