Dear Editor,

A snippet-article on Page 8 in the September 4 issue of the American Israelite widened my eyes and then turned my stomach. It was hiding as the last report in the “National Briefs” section.

This snippet was just like a bikini, it hid much more than it revealed. It tells of a Federal Contractor for the FAA sentenced for spying for Iran.

The man got 1 year in prison and 3 years supervised release.  I’m surprised our Justice Department didn’t give him (or his lawyer) a gold medal!

Back in the halcyon days of reality, his crime would have been called “treason” and his punishment would have been execution. But in these more “civilized” times, where toxic empathy roams the Federal District Courts, empathy seems to be valued more than justice and the security of the country.

It is not explained why he merited such a lenient sentence.

This man was a naturalized citizen, I believe he was from the Middle East, and the judge who presided was Judge Loren L Alikhan of the DC Court, nominated by President Biden (assuming his autopen wasn’t needed that day). What could go wrong?

As I mentioned, the JNS snippet doesn’t tell the reader why this spy got such a trivial punishment for doing the crime that he did. Was it because under Biden Iran was not considered a bellicose State anymore? Why o why didn’t the JNS article mention why the sentence for such a serious criminal act was so lenient?

It doesn’t say. Hence, the bikini analogy.
