There are many ways to celebrate the upcoming Chanukah holidays in Cincinnati. Last week, The American Israelite ran an article from the Jewish Federation which detailed Chanukah events like the Israeli Hanukkah Party, Latkapalooza, and Hanukkah at Fountain Square. You can find the Federation’s article on our website, and dates for each of these events are listed on our Community Calendar as well.
The Israeli Hanukkah Party will take place at the JCC on Thursday, December 19, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Latkapalooza, a Chanukah event for those ages 21-45, is happening once again. This time, on Tuesday, December 24, young people can gather together and celebrate all things latke. Location will be provided upon registration.
Finally, you can celebrate Chanukah at Fountain Square with the JFC and JCC on Wednesday, January 8, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Tickets are available online.
In addition to the events listed above, there are other Chanukah celebrations so that you can celebrate each and every night a different way with your family!
You can begin the countdown to the start of the holiday at Wise Temple’s NextGen Chanukah party and Shabbat celebration on Friday, December 20, from 6:30 – 9:30 at Plum Street Temple. All young adults are invited to celebrate Shabbat with the musical stylings of the NextGen Band. Food, fellowship and a Chanukah celebration will take place in the hall after the service.
For the younger crowd, the Jewish Discovery Center is hosting a Chanukah Carnival on Thursday, December 26, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The event will feature the lighting of a giant Menorah, face painting, games, food, and crafts. Celebrants of all ages are invited to join!
OneTable Cincinnati and Kadimah are hosting a Chanukah celebration at the ish facility on Friday, December 27, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Services will begin at 7:00 p.m.. At 8:00 p.m. a potluck will take place, so make sure to bring a dish to share! After dinner there will be an optional white elephant gift exchange. Those interested in participating in the gift exchange can bring a gift under $20 or a favor pledge.
Moms looking for a holiday night out for themselves can attend the Neon Brights + Hanukkah Lights event at the 21c Museum Hotel in Cincinnati. The Moms Night Out event, sponsored by PJ Library and the Mayerson JCC, will feature Mexican food from Nada followed by a neon brush sip and paint experience. No artistic experience is needed to enjoy this event! Ticket prices and other information can be found on the Mayerson JCC website.
Those who really want to put LIGHTS in the Festival of Lights will want to attend the Jewish Discovery Center’s Chanukah Glow event at the Deerfield Towne Center. From 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., participant can have a glow in the dark Chanukah experience featuring a giant menorah, a nine foot LED robot, food and crafts.
