On Sunday, August 31, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Adath Israel will be hosting a private screening of the 2024 comedy film, “Bad Shabbos.” There will be a charge for admission, and the name and address of the theater will be provided in the confirmation email upon RSVP.

The recent film was released to mostly positive reviews and features a diverse cast of veteran and upcoming actors. The cast includes Kyra Sedgwick, David Palmer and Method Man.

“Bad Shabbos” focuses on an interfaith couple who are going to have their parents meet for the first time at a Shabbat dinner. However, since this is a comedy, not everything goes as planned. Among other things, an accidental death occurs at the Shabbat dinner.

The film was made and co-written by Daniel Robbins. Some of his other credits include “Pledge” and “Uncaged.” Robbins’ co-writer on “Bad Shabbos” is Zack Weiner, who has helped Robbins write most of his other films.

The screening is happening just in time for Labor Day and promises to be a fun communal event, especially for fans of comedy and film.
