Local Cincinnati psychologist and American Israelite columnist, Dr. Kenneth Manges, has been recognized as one of the Queen City’s top ten psychologists by BusinessRate, a digital marketing and reputation management platform.
For more than four decades, forensic psychologist Dr. Kenneth J. Manges has devoted his career to understanding human behavior, helping others navigate difficult situations and bringing insight and compassion to his profession. Now, that dedication has earned him another distinction.
Dr. Kenneth J. Manges, Inc. has been named a BusinessRate TOP 10 of 2025 Cincinnati Award Winner in the Psychologist category, an honor based on verified Google Reviews and customer feedback. According to BusinessRate, the award recognizes local leaders in customer satisfaction, brand reputation and service excellence.
What makes the recognition especially meaningful is that recipients are not nominated or required to apply. Instead, the award is based entirely on authentic client reviews and overall reputation within the community.
For Dr. Manges, whose work often centers on understanding why people think and behave the way they do, the honor reflects a career built on empathy, professionalism and personal connection.
His journey toward psychology began in an unlikely and deeply emotional place — Vietnam.
Drafted into military service at age 20 during the Vietnam conflict, Manges spent 14 months stationed in Saigon. One traumatic experience, involving the aftermath of a deadly overnight attack on his base, changed the direction of his life forever.
“It was so grisly, so strange and upsetting,” Manges recalled in his biography. “I wondered what made them think and act that way.”
That question became the foundation for a lifelong pursuit of psychology and forensic behavioral study.
After returning home, the GI Bill helped him pursue higher education, eventually earning his doctorate from the University of Maryland. His professional work has since included serving as a psychologist, expert witness, speaker, author and longtime observer of human behavior.
Manges and his wife Barbara moved to Cincinnati in 1986, where he has continued to build both his practice and reputation. Many of our readers know him well through his “Psychologically Speaking” column he writes for The American Israelite.
