Women across Cincinnati will have another opportunity to give back through the Mayerson JCC’s Women’s Philanthropy initiative as part of its ongoing “Helping on Chai” volunteer series.
Held monthly, Helping on Chai brings women together to support nonprofits throughout the community through hands-on service projects aimed at helping local families and individuals in need. Each month highlights a different organization and cause, giving participants a chance to make a direct impact across Greater Cincinnati.
The upcoming program will partner with Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank, a program of St. Vincent de Paul Cincinnati. Sweet Cheeks works alongside local nonprofits and healthcare providers to supply free diapers to low-income families while also raising awareness about diaper insecurity — an issue affecting many parents throughout the region.
Women’s Philanthropy organizer, Jaynie Levinson, feels strongly about the positivity of the program. “To me, women are the heart of the community. At every volunteer event they show up with compassion and a ‘let’s get the job done mentality,’ while also asking, “What else can we do?
“I have always believed women in our community show up to support others, not because they are Jewish, but because WE are Jewish. Now more than ever, women show up to be leaders,” said Levinson.
During the volunteer event, participants will help wrap and prepare diaper packs for distribution to families across the community. According to organizers, access to clean diapers is an essential need for babies and toddlers, yet one in four parents struggles to afford the diapers necessary to place children in childcare, often causing missed days of work or school.
The event will take place at the St. Vincent de Paul Liz Carter Center, located at 1125 William L. Mallory Sr. Street in Cincinnati. Volunteers are encouraged to come prepared to work hands-on as they assist with assembling diaper packages for local families.
The Helping on Chai series is organized by the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and reflects Women’s Philanthropy’s ongoing commitment to community service, compassion and meaningful volunteer engagement throughout the city.
