The fall season was ushered in with the Fall Market held at Mayerson JCC on Sunday, September 21st. A beautiful sunny day marked the fifth year for this event. Participants of every age were rewarded with local produce and handcrafted goods. Activities ranged from browsing merchandize booths to participating in games and art projects. Coordinator Anne Goldstein, circulated among crowd as they visited over eighty vendors. Children loved seeing their original chalk drawings decorate the parking lot and listening to a book read at the PJ Library table. Adults could learn about educational opportunities and services provided by local social service organizations.

Various booths
Community organizations provided information on their services. Informational handouts and knowledgeable staff explained free services available from ARP, League of Women Voters and the Drug and Poison Information Center (DPIC).
Handcrafted Judaica items were available for purchase. In addition, flowers, candles, fresh apples, fresh vegetables, bakery goods and honey could be purchased to complement holiday meals.
The opportunity to recycle items in collection bins enhanced the spirit of helping our environment while enjoying nature in the fall. Shomrel Olam (Guardian of the Earth) accepted electronics, batteries and bulbs in the parking lot.

Clothing vendors
Greeting others in our community was a highlight of the day. These personal connections included talking with current neighbors, greeting recently introduced friends and reconnecting with people from one’s past. The Fall Market held at the J replicated the spirit of the marketplace where communities gathered to shop, talk and greet one another. Although we no longer live a buggy ride from our neighbors, we continue to seek a sense of community. The Greater Cincinnati community encompasses many neighborhoods and residents appreciated an opportunity to gather together to usher in the fall season.
