Orange Spot Bistro

When you arrive at the Orange Spot Bistro in Blue Ash, the décor stands out with its reserved, but dynamic design. I could tell before I even saw the menu that this restaurant takes food service seriously. The bistro is a contemporary, refreshing and exciting place to try for breakfast or lunch. Open for less than three years, this bright welcoming eatery offers kosher-friendly cuisine sure to please even particular patrons. Although it’s a casual, convenient locale, Orange Spot Bistro uses quality ingredients and cooking techniques, like a fine dining restaurant. Not only that, but if you like to eat healthy, Orange Spot serves simple great-tasting food, which does not compromise on flavor.

Alfredo Pizza

The lobby of the building which houses the bistro, 10123 Alliance Rd., serves as the dining area. But with plenty of convenient parking and easy access, Orange Spot Bistro remains a great place for carry out as well. Additionally, extensive outdoor seating in a shaded, expertly landscaped area is available. To put it simply, the bistro offers lovely dining options. The cleanliness, design and overall atmosphere made me more than ready to sample the menu. And — speaking of the menu — Orange Spot Bistro doesn’t offer an exhaustive array of items, trying to please every palate. Instead, like a fine dining restaurant, they have a limited, well-rounded menu, impressive in its simplicity and quality.

Cinnamon Bun

The staff greeted me with smiles, and they were well versed in their offerings. I found it challenging to decide what to try. When asked about their most popular items, the answer was clear: Pizza. So that’s what I had. Although I love a quality, traditional pizza, I tried the Alfredo with veggies, herbs and white sauce. With their oven-fired cooking the pizza is very Italian with light yet crisp crust, first rate cheese and sauce made on site. It’s rare to find pizza cooked just right like theirs, and the cheese was delicious. In addition to the pizza other Italian fare includes, calzones, paninis and many sandwich options. Meat alternatives, like Plant Based Chicken Parmesan, are available, as well as a fish fillet and tuna. And another of their unusual and popular items is the Salmon Burger, served with sweet chili mayo and pickled veggies made on site.

Falafel

When you preview the menu the array of drink options stands out. Like a good coffee shop, they serve expresso drinks of all sorts, both traditional and plenty of sweeter options. And their Smoothies and Slushies are very popular and impressive in appearance. To complete the offerings, a fresh salad bar is available, as well as other soups and salads for lighter meals.

Then — after the pizza — I saw the desserts and realized that a salad may have been a better choice. Nevertheless, when I sampled the homemade chocolate chip cookies, I had no regrets. I should mention that, although I enjoy a good cookie, I do not have a sweet tooth. But these cookies were really good. In fact, they were so good that when the staff also offered a sample of their cinnamon bun, I could not say no. If the cookie was good, the cinnamon bun was outstanding. Light and sweet, but not too sweet, this delicate pastry was like something your grandmother might’ve made. Regardless, if you like to finish off your lunch with a nice dessert, the Orange Spot Bistro has you covered.

So, what’s next for the bistro? Well, in 2026 they will open their second kitchen, Bássar, and offer meat options. They plan to introduce a beef burger, traditional Israeli Chicken Schnitzel, Matzo Ball Soup and even Chicken Tacos. Like the rest of the menu, the staff assures me that the new offerings will be distinct, limited and high quality. I look forward to going back to try them out, because the Orange Spot Bistro is a place…where the last taste lingers, long after it’s gone.
