In May 2022, Zola Veterinary Group proudly acquired the Mariemont Veterinary Clinic from longtime owner and practitioner, Dr. Jim Westerfield. Nestled on Murray Avenue, at the intersection of the Madeira, Madisonville, and Oakley communities, the clinic has been a trusted part of the neighborhood since the late 1980s.
From the moment we stepped inside, we sensed that Mariemont Veterinary Clinic was more than just a medical facility — it was a community. In a time when the veterinary field is increasingly dominated by large corporate groups, Dr. Westerfield cultivated something rare and meaningful: a warm, personal environment where pets and their owners were treated like family. In Hebrew, this sense of deep connection and shared purpose is called Kehilah — a word that perfectly captures the spirit of the clinic.
Although the building had aged, it was filled with charm and potential. At just under 3,000 square feet, less than a third of the space was being used for veterinary care. We saw an opportunity not only to expand physically, but also to broaden the impact of the clinic’s close-knit, community-driven philosophy.
In January 2025, we launched a complete renovation of the space — taking it down to the studs and reimagining the clinic from the ground up. In collaboration with BDA (Building Design for Animals) Architecture, Open Architecture, and JDL Warm Construction, our vision began to take shape: a state-of-the-art facility rooted in the same Kehilah that made the original clinic so beloved.
We officially reopened in June 2025, and today, Mariemont Veterinary Clinic is proud to serve as a full-service animal hospital for both small animals and exotics. With expanded capacity and upgraded medical capabilities, we remain deeply committed to providing the highest standard of care — while staying true to the welcoming, community-focused atmosphere that defines us.
We invite you to stop by, tour our newly renovated space, and experience firsthand what makes Mariemont Veterinary Clinic so special. Our doors — and our hearts — are always open.
