The Mayerson JCC 60 & Better Center will be offering a workshop for members who are looking to reinvent themselves. The talk, to be held on Wednesday, June 25, from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. at the J, will feature local author and American Israelite columnist Lorie Kleiner Eckert. Eckert, who has published five books and maintains several blogs, will discuss with attendees the notion of reinventing oneself after a major life change. Those affected by a recent retirement, the death of a spouse, or changing health matters, may need guidance in reinventing themselves and learning to take in their stride the changes that come along with aging. Eckert’s talk is geared toward those who are looking to make this change and hope to reframe their circumstances.

Eckert is not only a successful writer but a motivational speaker as well. According to her website, she traveled around the country pairing her speaking skills with her quilting techniques in motivational speeches she offered from 1994-2004. She has addressed over 22,000 people in 11 states in her career as a speaker.

In her work as Israelite columnist, Eckert pairs her life advice with meaningful anecdotes that help drive her point home. Those interested in attending Eckert’s talk for the JCC 60 & Better Center can find more information on the JCC website.
