On Sunday, February 23, over 200 guests gathered at the Kenwood Country Club for the Cincinnati Hebrew Day School (CHDS) Annual Dinner, an evening brimming with warmth and a sense of community. The event not only marked a significant occasion in the CHDS calendar but also highlighted the deep-rooted values that make the school a pillar of Jewish education.
The highlight of the night was the heartfelt tribute to Bob Clayton. Bob’s tireless dedication and unwavering commitment have left an indelible mark on the school. His work with the Jewish Federation’s Community and Property Maintenance Program and SAFE Cincinnati has been instrumental in ensuring that CHDS remains a safe, well-maintained and thriving environment for both students and faculty. His contributions have extended far beyond the physical upkeep of the campus, embodying a deep commitment to the overall well-being of the school community.
Board President Michy Fishman delivered an inspiring speech in which he praised Bob’s steadfast efforts and selfless contributions. “Bob Clayton committed tremendous energy to the upkeep and well-being of our facilities and our campus. He has demonstrated the true meaning of mesiras nefesh — giving of the heart and the soul. His name has become synonymous with the meticulous care of our CHDS physical plant,” Mr. Fishman shared, underscoring the immense value Bob has brought to the school over the years.
A touching tribute video was shown during the evening, filled with heartfelt testimonials from colleagues, friends and community members. These testimonials painted a vivid picture of Bob’s dedication, hard work and the lasting impact he has had on the CHDS community. His contributions were celebrated through moving stories.
In addition to honoring Bob Clayton, the event also recognized the significant contributions of the Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati and the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati. Both organizations have shown unwavering support for CHDS, and their broader efforts to strengthen Jewish education and foster growth within the Jewish community were deeply appreciated by all in attendance. The Foundation’s ongoing commitment to ensuring a vibrant future for Jewish education.
The evening also featured a special presentation showcasing CHDS students, providing a glimpse into the vibrant learning environment, growth and values that define the school’s mission. The students’ enthusiasm and academic achievements are a testament to the dedication of CHDS’ faculty and staff, further exemplifying the school’s success in nurturing the next generation of Jewish leaders.
The Annual Dinner was a true reflection of the strength and unity of the CHDS family. From its dedicated leadership and supporters to the administration, teachers and staff, the event underscored the collective effort that makes CHDS a beacon of Jewish education in Cincinnati.
