The Mayerson JCC’s 60 & Better Center will be hosting “From Stage to Screen: The Broadway Musical Goes to Hollywood.” The event is an online exploration of Hollywood adaptations of Broadway musical, like “My Fair Lady,” “Cabaret,” and “A Chorus Line.” While both “My Fair Lady” and “Cabaret” were box office successes, “A Chorus Line” and “Camelot” were flops. Film historian Brian Rose will join the event virtually from New York to discuss what happens on the road from Broadway to Hollywood that contributes to whether a film is a success or a flop. The discussion will center on how Broadway musicals become films, either with adaptations that cut beloved songs or that reinterpret the story and become smash hits like “West Side Story.”

The event is Thursday, November 21 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. It will be held virtually and there is no fee.
