Mayerson JCC offers summer fun for all ages

The Mayerson JCC has a robust summer schedule for all age groups who might be looking for ways to beat the summer heat or simply enjoy their summer vacations. 

The Young Adult Summer Bash takes place Sunday, July 14, from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the JCC. Young people are invited to the pool at the J for swimming, games and a tasty kosher cookout. 

The 60 & Better Group is presenting Peter Bronson’s author lecture on Wednesday, July 17, from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Bronson will discuss his book “The Man Who Saved Cincinnati,” an exploration of the life of Lew Wallace, a Union general in the American Civil War. Wallace is well known for his heroics during the Civil War period, but he also ordered the arrest of the famous outlaw Billy the Kid and helped investigate the conspirators behind President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.

For those who wish to get out and about around Cincinnati, the J is also hosting Jewish Community Night at FC Cincinnati, also on July 17, from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a soccer game at TQL Stadium, and each ticket purchase for the event includes an exclusive FCC Jewish Community Night hat, which can be picked up at the game. 

Families looking for a night out can head to the J for Family Movie Night on Sunday, July 21 from 8:30 – 10:30 p.m. Those wishing to attend can a lawn chair and blankets for a lovely evening watching a movie under the stars. 

Finally, for any young community members with a bug for the stage, the JCC will be hosting several theatre events. Fresh off the heels of a successful production of Disney’s “Moana Jr.,” the J is offering young Cincinnatians a chance to explore different theatre programs at the community center on Sunday, July 28. Children ages 5-7 can get a taste for theatre at Lights Up on Theatre at the J. The class goes from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Children ages 8–14 can experience the stage at Spotlight on Theatre at the from 4:15 – 5:15 p.m. Older girls who are interested in JCC theatre can check out what is offered at the High School Girls Theatre Workshop, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. 

Finally, young folks who want to experience one final summer bash can attend the End of Summer Happy Hour at the Porch at Washington Park, Thursday, August 8 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
