Letter to the Editor – May 2, 2024

Dear Editor,

It’s not that we weren’t warned, we were. It’s that we elected to ignore the warnings that in hindsight were so very clear.

But the smart ones among us should have heeded the warnings.

For a long time now have we known that the Saudis and Qataris were financing chairs of Islamic studies at American universities and ipso facto giving huge salaries to professors who were intoxicated by these salaries. Given those salaries it was easy to convince them to take the anti-Israel position. Money will do that, almost every time.

The truth be known is that AIPAC recognized the peril on campuses but failed in their effort to quell it.

It begs the question however, as to what to do now.

Sadly, the dominant culture at these East coast universities is far too liberal and tainted to do what is right. The governors of these East coast states do not have the fortitude to do what is right and I guess the same can be said for most mayors of these towns and cities.

But somewhere there have to be leaders who can convince the authorities to take action.  We know who they are and they should be called to action. Kudos to Robert Kraft for getting the ball rolling in the right direction.

Call in the National Guard.

Arrest those students who cross the line from free speech to hate speech.

Prosecute those who crossed that line. Its not hard to differentiate between free speech and hate speech. When one chants “kill the Jews” “Rape the  Jews” etc. the hate part is as clear as daylight.

Expel those students so that they cannot graduate.

Deport those who are here illegally.

Stop federal funding to those universities who are complicit in allowing this continue.

Prosecute those who are trespassing on University grounds. I’m sure there are many paid activists who fit that description.

Allowing this situation to fester will only make it harder to quell. Its not going to end nicely, but it’s already not nice.
