Jewish Family Service (JFS) held its 2023 Sukkot Food Drive on September 10, at the Mayerson JCC Fall Market. The food drive helped fill the shelves of JFS’s Heldman Family Food Pantry, located in its Barbash Family Vital Support Center in Clifton. The Jewish holiday of Sukkot is a weeklong celebration inspired by the fall harvest. It looks ahead to a new year. It is also a time of personal reflection and an opportunity for the community to give generously to those in need.
For more than 80 years, Jewish Family Service has helped the underprivileged in the community. For individuals and families facing food insecurity, JFS’s food pantry has been a lifeline. The food pantry provides people with access to food and personal care items. Importantly, it is the only pantry in the region to include a full array of kosher foods, including meat. The JFS pantry is also unique in the region for offering home delivery for groceries and personal care items.
This year, the food drive coincided with the Mayerson JCC Fall Market. This festive market offers a wonderful variety of produce, handcrafted goods, a kid-friendly atmosphere, and more. Dozens of area vendors attended to share their wares.
