The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) will hold its 2023 Annual Meeting on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, beginning at 7:00pm in the Mayerson JCC’s Amberley Room. The event is free and open to the public.
JCRC Director Rabbi Ari Ballaban and Assistant Director Jeremy Spiegel will lead the meeting, having served in their respective leadership positions for the last year.
“We chose the theme of ‘Working Across Differences’ to try and fully encapsulate what Jeremy and I — and the organization as a whole — have been aiming for in our time here. Whether that’s education on antisemitism, interfaith cooperation, or bridging the gaps between opinions on Israel, we think we have made real strides and are excited about sharing our accomplishments with everyone.”
While annual meetings for JCRC are not unique, this year’s gathering will be outstanding in a few key areas, showcasing:
• Mark Barsman passing the JCRC board presidential reins to Ben Schneider. Likewise, the swearing in of eight new board members and honoring of several longtime board members who have served the JCRC diligently.
• Exciting, new information about the Leaders in Light Institute. JCRC will share more about a transformational gift that ensures this work continues long into the future. The next cohort of Leaders in Light Fellows will also be announced, a diverse group of local leaders committed to being the next stewards of democracy and catalysts of change.
• A panel discussion on how American Jews can and do respond to tumult and change in Israel. This panel will feature three top-level authorities from across the political spectrum: Jason Greenblatt, Shanie Reichman, and Rabbi Josh Weinberg. It will be moderated by Adam Teitelbaum. These four experts will address the most pressing Israel-related questions of the day.
One of JCRC’s primary goals is to educate the community about Israel. Bringing together a group of experts that have enormous knowledge and differing views on recent events in Israel will offer a unique learning opportunity for attendees of the meeting.
“This panel is really in response to what members of our Jewish community have been asking for, to address the ramifications of what’s happening in Israel — both internally and externally — head on. We are excited to expand our annual meeting to include this. If you are concerned about what is happening there (and how it affects your life here), we encourage you to join us on June 13. You won’t want to miss it.”
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested. Ample parking is available in the parking lots of the Mayerson JCC. Guests can enjoy a selection of desserts and coffee following the event.

Shanie Reichman is the IPF Atid Director at Israel Policy Forum, based in New York City, where she works to elevate the discourse around the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
