Jewish Cemeteries of Greater Cincinnati (JCGC) recently launched into the search for new executive leadership. Richard Barasch, co-chair of JCGC’s Committee on Buildings and Grounds, has been appointed Interim Executive Director. He temporarily oversees the staff responsible for twenty-five area Jewish cemeteries and is committed to its unwavering mission to “serve the burial needs of the Greater Cincinnati Jewish community with care and dignity and honor the resting places of our people.”
The former executive director, David Harris, has returned to the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati where he now serves as Director of Development. Ray Warren, Board Chair of JCGC, thanked David for his six years of excellent and devoted service and congratulated him on a well-deserved advancement.
Richard Barasch has worked in health care as an administrator for over three decades. During that time he has gained valuable experience as co-chair of the Jewish Cemeteries committee on Buildings and Grounds and been a member of the executive committee. “As a lifelong member of the Cincinnati Jewish community, it is an honor to serve. I am the third generation of my family living in the community, and I have family in at least a dozen of our cemeteries. To be part of our outstanding team at JCGC and be able to help steward Jewish Cincinnati history is deeply rewarding for me.”
Ray Warren, Board Chair of JCGC, shared that “we are very fortunate to secure the services of Richard during this period. He brings a wealth of experience both from his former ‘real’ job as well as from his active engagement on our Board. We will not miss a beat!” Jewish Cemeteries has convened a search committee and engaged Jewish Vocational Service to assist in hiring a new permanent executive director.
